An elegant pair of covered sweetmeat dishes in solid silver; each consists of an openwork silver mount holding a removable cobalt blue glass bowl, resting on a substantial circular solid silver stand.

The stand, designed as a formal base, features a wide, slightly upturned circular rim edged with a delicate bead frieze. Its center, with concentric molded tiers, forms a platform to hold the dish. It rests on small, discreet feet that provide slight elevation and enhance the ensemble's elegance.

The highly intricate openwork mount is adorned at the top with an interlaced frieze punctuated by small floral motifs. Below, it displays rich ornamentation of scrolling foliage and garlands arranged around circular medallions, each centered with a radiating rosette. Four slender, leaf-adorned feet support the mount.

The cobalt blue glass, visible through the silver's openwork, creates a striking color contrast and highlights the delicacy of the ornamentation.

The slightly domed lid, edged with a bead frieze, is topped by a finial shaped like a flower bud resting on a leafy base.

A fine example of late 19th-century French silversmithing, remarkable for the quality of its openwork decoration and the particularly elegant combination of silver and cobalt blue glass.
