Superb condiment set in solid silver, including four salt pots and a covered bezel, from the Consulate – First Empire period.

The four oval-shaped salt cellars, resting on a stepped pedestal, have an elegant flared cut with an edge highlighted by a fine beaded frieze. The side handles, particularly refined, are formed of winding uprights ending in stylized eagle heads, a characteristic motif of the imperial decorative repertoire. The square bases with projections rest on four ball feet, giving the whole a beautiful monumentality despite the miniature nature of the pieces. The interiors are entirely vermillion.

The covered bezel, of the same model, has the eagle-headed handles and rests on a pedestal with a square base and ball feet. Its slightly domed lid is bordered by a beaded frieze and topped with a particularly decorative grip in the shape of a pine cone and palmette.

Hallmarks: 1st Rooster title hallmark, 1st Paris title hallmark (1798-1809), guarantee hallmarks and master goldsmith hallmark of François Froment. The 1st Rooster corresponds to the first silver title, i.e. 950/1000.
