Description

This sauce boat is distinguished by its rigorous yet subtly architectural construction, where each element seems conceived as a mechanical as well as an aesthetic joint. The main body, with its perfectly refined cylindrical shape, presents a smooth, taut surface, whose formal purity evokes the modernist explorations inherited from Kazimir Malevich.

It is supported by a peripheral structure composed of two slightly projecting vertical supports that rhythmically punctuate the surface. These supports are not merely decorative elements: they are part of an ingenious screw fastening system, discreetly visible at their base. This screw assembly ensures both the stability of the whole and the possibility of functional disassembly.

The square base, with its softened corners and slightly raised rim, acts as a structural plinth. It cradles the cylindrical body in a perfectly fitted circular cavity, creating a play of geometries—a circle inscribed within a square—of great visual elegance. The underside reveals the central fastening system, with a screwed-on disc that testifies to the care taken in its construction and the precision of its assembly.

The removable, perfectly polished interior contrasts with the understated exterior and reinforces the idea of an object that is both utilitarian and conceptual. The whole piece plays on oppositions: solid and void, mirror-like shine and satiny matte finish, the stability of the base and the apparent lightness of the container.

A piece where functionality is combined with a demanding formal reflection, placing this object within a tradition of contemporary silversmithing at the crossroads of art and design.
