Exceptional pair of vermeil salerons represented by a newt blowing in a conch, in the middle of two large shells placed on an oval base with leafy outlines.

Here the marine theme is inspired by the "Neptune" basin of Versailles and a centerpiece executed by Emile Froment Meurice for the Duke Medina Celi, now kept in the Royal Palace of Madrid. Victor Boudet is a silversmith who stamped his hallmark in 1894. His workshop located at 43 Boulevard des Capucines was still active in 1902 before he moved. These magnificent salerons do not seem to have a goldsmith's mark. It is therefore likely that Boudet chiselled this piece with great virtuosity, but it is impossible to ensure that he was the craftsman.
