Description
Pair of solid silver candlesticks from the First Empire period. The decoration is inspired by Neoclassicism. The base is engraved with a vegetal frieze composed of scrolls, florets, and rosettes. The truncated conical stem with facets is adorned with finely engraved palmettes. The upper part features a quadrangular die enriched with applied mascarons depicting female heads with antique hairstyles, rendered as medallions. The edges of the die and the base are highlighted with beaded friezes and stylized Greek key patterns. The ensemble reflects an archaeological taste characteristic of the decorative repertoire of the early 19th century.
